Lekki Conservation Centre case study

About the client

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is the premier Non Governmental Organisation dedicated to nature conservation and sustainable development in Nigeria. Founded in 1990 by NCF, the Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) has grown to be one of Africa’s most prominent and diverse urban nature parks due to its high species richness.

It is located on the coast and covers an approximate land area of 78 hectares, extending from 19 km along the Lagos-Epe Expressway, almost reaching the Atlantic Ocean near Okun Ibeju Village.

The Foundation has a vision to encourage Nigeria to be a place where people prosper whilst living in harmony with nature. This mission drives its goal of preserving the full range of Nigeria’s biodiversity which includes species, ecosystems and genetic biodiversity. It is the only vibrant protected area in Lagos state and one of the very few tourist destinations in this area, which has encouraged it to be recognized as a notable monument by the Lagos state government under the listed sites for the preservation, protection and restoration of historic properties and cultural heritage.

Hundreds of adults and children, particularly school students, visit LCC every day. Thousands of fun seekers go to LCC in the festive periods, during which the center hosts special events to commemorate the public holidays, festivals and organised events. The LCC spaces are also rented out for wedding receptions, company board meetings and training programmes for local and international organisations.

At the moment, LCC tickets are only available to purchase at the Lekki Centre, meaning there is no other opportunity for potential visitors and tourists to buy tickets before reaching the center. This has always presented a challenge, particularly during the festival and events period, as the number of visitors is not known until the day, making it difficult to plan staffing levels.

Although many visitors would love to buy nature branded merchandise, there has been no opportunity for NCF and LCC to sell products for their fans.

Sending out marketing communications after visitors leave hasn’t been possible, making it difficult to inform them about the upcoming programmes and conservation education events that would be a benefit to the Lagosians.

LCC was looking for an all-in-one software solution to sell tickets and upsell products online, manage access and promote their upcoming events to their loyal visitors.

Our event ticketing software provided the visitors with the opportunity to buy tickets online from LCC's website before visiting the center. They were also able to choose from a range of nature branded products and pre-purchase them with their tickets.

Our live attendance reporting feature ensured LCC’s staff was fully prepared for the crowds and was able to reduce queuing times.

Wristband access control

The Nutickets access control system ensured that visitors only have access to the areas they have purchased tickets for. This modern solution helped to avoid fraud at the center, improved the operational efficiency and most importantly the visitor experience.

Data capture

NCF's team gained valuable data about their visitors by using our custom data capture forms. Their customer database could be easily accessed through the central Nutickets dashboard, and used to send targeted promotional campaigns about future events. Our reporting suite enabled the management team to see the traffic flow within the center, plan for future events and improve the center’s facilities.

Nutickets Nigeria offered a tailored solution to suit the specific requirements of the Center, improving not just their operational efficiency and security, but also the visitor experience.
